Raleigh, North Carolina –
August 19, 2003 – Wiresnap, LLC.,
a Raleigh-based wireless “hotspot” provider, has announced
a deal to install its Restaurant/Hotel/Retail wireless internet access
(WiFi) service in Bear Rock Cafe restaurants. The service from Wiresnap
includes service and wireless management at the restaurants. WiFi, or
Wireless Fidelity allows users to connect to the internet without wires.
Laptop computers can send and receive data indoors and out, from anywhere
within range of a base station called an access point.
“Wiresnap’s
Restaurant/Hotel//Retail service provides a safe web experience and the
WiFi system is monitored to ensure customers will not be exposed to inappropriate
internet content. It's a custom-built wireless access point," says
Sharat Nagaraj, president of Wiresnap.
Bear
Rock Cafes are franchised eateries headquartered in Cary, North
Carolina. From their gourmet style sandwiches to their cozy, mountain
lodge atmosphere, they strive to ensure that their patrons enjoy
a unique eating experience. “Bear Rock Cafe is a convenient
and comfortable place that fits easily into people’s lifestyles,”
says Deneen Nethercutt, Vice President of Marketing, Bear Rock
Franchise Systems. “Now, by offering WiFi, we have another
feature that’s attracting even more business people during
breakfast, lunch, midday and late day. They’re able to come
in and eat and enjoy a great environment, but still get a lot
of work done. It’s been very well received.”
Bear
Rock is not charging an additional fee for wireless internet service,
and views it as a value-added feature for their customers while
further differentiating them from the competition. The availability
of wireless internet access in public venues is a fast-growing
trend. Starbucks currently charges for wireless internet access
in their coffee shops nationwide. McDonald's, who recently announced
that they will be offering WiFi access in a number of their San
Francisco Bay Area locations, will be charging $4.95 for a two-hour
wireless internet connection.
In
addition to its Restaurant/Hotel/Retail service, Wiresnap provides wireless
service to conventions and large meetings, companies needing wireless
solutions for their offices, and individuals.
